Farewell 6th Class

Best wishes to Chloe, Rían and John who have finished their time in Aughrim N.S. We wish them the very best of luck in secondary school. We have no doubt that they will continue to succeed and do themselves and their families proud.

Sports Day 2024

We finished off our year with a Sports Day on Monday. We had all the traditional races as well as stations and co operative games. Well done to all who took part!

Junior Room School Tour

Mrs. Devaney’s classroom had a lovely day out to Ardcarne Garden Centre and Lough Key Forest Park. The children learned about different plants and herbs and were then treated to hot chocolate and brownies in the cafe. After that they had great fun in the playground at Lough Key.

Creative Cluster History Exhibition

We did a project on Aughrim’s history. We made clay models and a posters on different parts of the history of Kilmore. We had an exhibition in school to display and present our projects to our families. We also invited all of our grandparents to come to the school. The junior room did projects about their grandparents. We dressed up in old style clothes. We did our projects in teams. It was a great day.

Birch the Baa-rilliant Border Collie

This is Birch the border collie and his shepherd Paul from Newport Shepherds in Co. Mayo. Birch was born in Connemara. Birch only eats one time a day, he eats nuts and chicken. Border Collies are the smartest dogs and they come from Scotland. They only listen to their owner. Border Collies are trained from eleven months. It takes four years for a Border Collie to be trained. The dog has to be healthy. The dog has commands to learn. Birch is a working dog. If he has nothing to do, he will tear things and start barking then you have to tell him ‘no’ and then you can reward him when he is good.
