๐Ÿ€ Basketball & Soccer Update โšฝ

Well done to our mixed basketball team who played a great semi-final against Cloonyquinn NS. Aughrim came out on top and now progress to the final โ€” best of luck to the team!

On the same day, our girlsโ€™ soccer team took part in a blitz, winning 2 out of their 3 games. Unfortunately, it wasnโ€™t enough to reach the final, but a fantastic effort from all involved.

๐ŸŒ Earth Day at Aughrim N.S. ๐ŸŒฑ

We celebrated Earth Day by rolling up our sleeves and taking care of our environment! The children worked together to clean up around the school grounds and our polytunnel.

It was fantastic to see such teamwork and pride in looking after our planet. Every small action makes a big difference! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฅฌ ๐Ÿง… Our Poly Tunnel ๐Ÿฅ” ๐Ÿฅ•

Pupils were delighted to get back working in the polytunnel for the first time this year, getting stuck in as they began sowing potatoes. A great start to another busy and enjoyable growing season. ๐Ÿฅ”

๐Ÿ€ Basketball and Soccer Blitz โšฝ๏ธ

Pupils enjoyed great days at a basketball blitz in Castlerea and a soccer blitz in Gurteen, showing excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout. They played several matches, improved their skills, and most importantly, had lots of fun.

World Book Day 2026 ๐Ÿ“š

Our school had great fun celebrating World Book Day! The children enjoyed a range of activities throughout the day to celebrate reading and their favourite books. Many pupils dressed up as characters from their favourite stories, and it was wonderful to see such creativity on display.

Classes spent time reading together, sharing stories, and talking about the books they love.

World Book Day is always a lovely opportunity to remind children of the joy of reading and the importance of books in sparking imagination and learning.

St Brigidโ€™s Day ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒพ

We enjoyed making St Brigidโ€™s Day crosses today, learning about the tradition and its meaning while working carefully with our hands. A lovely way to celebrate St Brigid, our patron saint.

๐ŸŽ„Christmas Carols and Nativity Night 2025๐ŸŽ„

Our Christmas Carols & Nativity Night in Aughrim Church was a very special evening. Well done to all our pupils who sang and performed so well, and thank you to everyone who attended for sharing the night with us. A special word of thanks to Fionnuala Maxwell, who prepared the children for the choir, and to Eithne Higgins, who did a wonderful job decorating the church.

Shoebox Appeal ๐ŸŽ

A huge thank you to all our families who supported this yearโ€™s Shoebox Appeal.

Your generosity will bring joy to children who might otherwise receive very little this Christmas.

The pupils worked hard filling their boxes with toys, toiletries, school supplies and warm clothing. Each shoebox is a reminder of the kindness and community spirit in our school.

Exploring Our Local Heritage ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿช•

We were delighted to welcome Fionnualaย to our school this week for a wonderful workshop on local heritage.

Fionnuala taught the pupils traditional songs and shared stories from our area, helping the children connect with the history and culture of our community. The highlight for many was learning some lively traditional dances โ€” lots of smiles, music, and movement! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ

A big thank you to Fionnuala for a fun and educational visit. The children thoroughly enjoyed it! ๐ŸŒŸ
