Science Week

This week was Science Week and we all did some interesting experiments. The big room found out that and orange will float with a skin on it but it will sink if you peel it and your pulse is a lot faster after doing exercise. We also found out that if you put olive oil in water they will not mix. The little room did some experiments too and Niamh wrote about what they did. Science week is from the 12th to the 19th of November. We all had a lot of fun doing experiments this week.

Scór Na bPáistí

Just before mid- term our school was competing in the Scór na bPáistí competition. We had competitors in every category except the ballad group. It was a very fun practising it and competing for our schoo. We have done it every year and every year our teacher Mr Faughnan says that every time that we win something we get a night off homework. We only got one night off homework because we won the novelty act (play). But all in all it was fun and we had great craic doing it.

Christmas shoe box appeal

Every year we make a Christmas Shoe Box and send them to children in poor countries. We always put a great effort into these boxes and everybody does one. We put toys, sweets, face cloths, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, socks, colouring books, pencils and pencil cases in. We put lots of thought in to the boxes and they help make another child’s Christmas.

Our Remeberance Tree

In November, We remember.

This year we did a November tree. The oldest person in each family got a paper leaf and wrote the names of people in our families, friends or neighbours who have died, so that we could remember them on our tree, especially at this time of year.
