Activities this term

We have been doing swimming since we came back to school. We go every Thursday to Aura in Carrick on Shannon. It is great fun and everyone enjoying it. Everyone has learned something. This week we had to do 4 lanes it was quite hard. There are loads of different groups in swimming and loads of teachers. They are nice and we learned a lot from them.

Every week on a Wednesday we do football with a man called David. We do soloing, kicking, hand passing and other cool skills. After doing all the drills we play a small match. Everyone enjoys it and has fun.

Debating

Our Debate Team have been busy writing speeches for a mock debate. We are debating on the topic of should we pay for water. Darragh, Kate and Deirdre will be proposing the motion (we should pay for water) and Róisín, Coman and Sarah will be opposing the motion (we shouldn’t pay for water). Ms.Grogan has been helping us with our speeches. The captains of the teams are Deirdre and Róisín. The captains will speak first, then the other two speakers on the team and then the captain speaks again. Usually you have three minutes to talk. There is a chairperson to introduce each speaker and a time keeper to time everyone. Usually there are three adjudicators (judges). The team with the most points at the end, win the debate.
