Hallowe’en

Happy Hallowe’en! On Friday 24th of October we came to school dressed up for Hallowe’en. We had some great costumes, ducked for apples, carved some pumpkins and enjoyed the morning. Here are some pictures. (See some more in the Hallowe’en Gallery)

Maths Week

As part of Maths Week we had two guess how many sweets in the jar competitions. The Infants were guessing how many Malteasers were in the jar. 1st -6th were guessing how many M & Ms were in the jar. Everyone had two guesses each. Olivia won the Malteasers. There were 240 and Olivia’s guess was 223. Deirdre won the M & Ms there were 802. Deirdre guessed 743. Well done to Deirdre and Olivia. Enjoy your sweets!
We paired up on Tuesday for maths. We got a laptop for each pair and got to do maths games on the internet. We took it in turns.
We were doing it for about a half an hour. We all had great fun!
On Wednesday we were doing maths problems for maths class. We were all put into groups of three or four. We were given out cards with pictures and instructions on them. One of the problems was we had to make 37 with ten numbers but we figured it was not possible (beacuse when you add odd numbers you can only get an even number!). Another problem had four clocks the wrong way round or upside down and you had to say what time was on them. It was tricky but most of us got the answer after a little while.
Take a look in our Gallery to see our pictures.

Goal Jersey Day

Friday 3rd of October was Goal Jersey Day. We came to school in our jerseys. Some people wore their club colours, some people wore their county jersey, while other people wore a soccer or rugby jersey. Everyone donated €2 to Goal. Goal helps people in poor countries. Here are some pictures of us in our Jerseys!

Football

Every Tuesday the senior room have football training. Shane comes to our school in the morning. He usually brings two students from a local Secondary School. First we usually do a warm up. Then we go straight into a kick passing and hand passing drill. After about twenty minutes we finish the drills and pick teams for a match. There are different captains every week. After the teams are picked we go straight into a match. Once Shane blows his whistle we go in for lunch.
